WHAT'S NEW? JULY 2010
NW NEWS
Vacation months for the Ya Sure Ya Betcha Band are July and August.
There will be NO DANCE on August 22 at Normanna. The next dance there will
be the 4th SUNDAY of September from 2-5.
Dance music will be played by Sylvia Jorgensen, accordion, Paul Johnson, drums, and
Mike Nelson on guitar.
Hi EVERYONE,
We had a grrrreat time in Wyoming and Colorado!!! SYLVIA'S ARIZONA DANCE BAND, Sylvia Jorgensen, Accordion; Richard Kuciemba, Sax/Clarinet; Carl Nyberg, Banjo, Fiddle, Guitar; played in Cheyene, Wyoming May 7, and in Golden, Colorado May 9. Both, drew large enthusiastic crowds and we thank everyone for coming.
Cheyenne's American Legion provided a delicious meal before the dance sponsored by the Polka Club of Cheyenne. Where did all the polka dancers come from? Seems far and wide as we talked to folks who drove many miles to get there. Enjoyed seeing dancers from Colorado too. Dancers, Young Kim and Betsy flew in from California to attend. Couples, John and Shirley, and Tom and Lee from Polka Pals in Michigan (enroute home from AZ) were there. Local folk who reside in Cheyenne but just returned from Arizona were Bob and Catherine, Claude and Irma, and Jo and Roger. The Pruter's and Austins were presented with roses and the beautiful song, "Wild Rose of Old Cheyenne" was played for them. The Pruter's will be celebrating their 75th Wedding Anniversary January 2, 2011 and the Austin's their 50th, on January 15, 2011 in Mesa, Arizona. Our band is honored to be presenting a program and dance for both couples. We want to thank Darrell and Sue Peper of Greeley CO for their hospitality and being at all our dances. On Sunday, we made their way to the Polka Lover's dance at the Kickers' wonderful facility in Golden, Colorado. We appreciated the huge welcome and enjoyed playing there again to such a lively and appreciative crowd. A highlight of the evening, was the colorful "Parade of Hats" worn by the ladies, many who were there celebrating "Mother's Day."
Our Arizona Band will be in full swing in Mesa again in November of 2010 to begin our 2010-2011 Winter Season. It will be our 17th year playing dance music in the Valley of the Sun.
